AAA (No. 5): Autumn and Air

Posted on

As I hope you’ve read from my earlier post today (Muffin Tin Mayhem), we have been having an exciting time in our household.  With Mrs. Anne, my mother-in-law, over for the past two days hovering helpfully I haven’t been able to get any art done unless it’s been in the evening. Thankfully today I managed quite well on my own despite my crushed toe. I was able to finish two pieces today. I hope this makes up for my sparse post from Monday!

For an explanation of what’s going on, click here. For past Amateur Art in August posts, click here. And don’t forget to go over to Katie’s blog (Laptop on the Ironing Board) to see how she and the other participants of Amateur Art in August are doing. If you would like to participate, it’s not too late! Just let Katielikestocreate know 🙂

What Medium: Colored Pencils, Printer Paper, Artist Marker (brown)

Estimated Time: On and off for the past three days; line art was drawn very quickly without reference and without remorse – as in I made sure I wasn’t going back in obsessing over lines not being straight, etc.

Amateur Art in August List

Posted on

Hey guys!

I was getting ready to update my archives and I decided that I wanted a floating list rather than a list in the archive section of my blog for the AAA project. Thus I created this page! If you don’t want to keep up with the entire blog and just want to see my efforts for Amateur Art in August, then bookmark this page. I will endeavor to update it with every piece but if I don’t, be assured that I will update it every weekend with my pieces from the previous week.

I hope you’ll take the time to get to know me and my family but I realize how busy life is. I’m sure the last thing you need is yet another blog to keep up with so. So this – this is for you. Consider it your cheat sheet for this month.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

AAA (No. 3): Study in Blue and Golden Afternoon

Posted on

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! Today I decided to try something different for Katie’s (katielikestocreate) Amateur Art in August. I’m sure many of you have heard of Swap-Bot.com. If you haven’t and you like sending and receiving mail (as well as crafting a good portion of it too), then you really ought to check it out. One of my pen pals from Hellobee.com put me on to it and I have been dabbling in it ever since. My inspiration for today’s piece comes straight from Swap-Bot.com.  But before I explain, allow me to introduce you to “Study in Blue” and “Golden Afternoon”.

AAA (No. 2): Bumble Bee

Here’s my piece for Wednesday! Enjoy!

What Medium: Colored Pencils and One Marker on Plain Printer Paper

Estimated Time: Approximately 2 – 4 hours if I had been able to sit and just work without interruption, in reality 22 hours from start to finish (including the calligraphy poem not pictured).

I wrote a poem last night and when I finished it, I showed it to Gordon. He told me that he liked it and that it reminded him of A. A. Milne or, more specifically, Winnie the Pooh and he was surprised when I told him I had written it. He then went on to say that it was very good. I started sketching the first flower in the top left corner that night and managed to get the second flower and the tiny flowers along the bottom started before I called it quits and went to bed. Today I drew the rest of it and colored as I went. I had a rough rainbow theme in my head – Red, orange, yellow, no green flowers that I knew of so I just used the green of all the leaves as a transition at the bottom, then the blues, and finally purple. I messed up on the tulip looking flower, not happy with it at all. Neither the concept or the coloring.
